FAQs

    Home FAQs

Do You Provide Complimentary Meet & Greets?

No.  I’ve decided to discontinue meet-and-greet calls to increase calendar availability for my current patients and reduce wait times for new patients. I’ve found that most questions posed in a meet and greet are not possible to answer until a thorough medical assessment and analysis has been completed.

We’ve created this FAQ section to try to address the most common questions, however, if you have more specific questions, please fill in the form in the “Book an Appt.” section of this website and we’ll do our best to get back to you.

    Do You Treat Children?

I provide naturopathic and functional medical care for adults 18 and older.

How many appointments will I need to get better?

The length of time you’ve been unwell and the complexity of your health issues play a big role in how quickly you will heal.  Halting symptom progression, reversing the disease state and creating long lasting healing takes time and dedicated effort, but can be achieved.  Once we have identified the cause of your illness or dysfunction and begin to strategically support your body, I will have a much better idea of what you can expect.  My goal is to help you reclaim your health as quickly as possible and then help you maintain it.

Typically my patient’s care is broken out into 2 distinct phases:

    1. The Active Care Phase  – this is where we figure out the “why” (root cause), develop your treatment plan, halt your symptom progression and rebuild the foundations of health. Generally I see patients 3-4 times in the first 6 months

    2. The Maintenance Care Phase – this is where we begin to reverse the disease state, continue to optimize your health, and provide you with the knowledge, tools and support to maintain a state of wellness.  In this phase I generally see patients every 3 months or so for “tune-ups” and to address any new health issues that may arise.

    Can You Heal Me?

Creating a higher state of health is a lifetime’s work.  It doesn’t happen overnight by taking a supplement or a pill and it’s not something that is done to you.  It’s done by you.

As much as I wish it were otherwise, the reality is no one can heal another person.  As a doctor, I can give you my very best thinking, treatment recommendations, guidance, support and caring, and shine a light on the best route you can take to get better.  The work of actually healing has to be done by you, and should be something you work at every day.

You will improve your potential for healing by making sure you are sleeping well, nourishing yourself with whole foods, following your treatment plan, keeping your stress in check, moving your body each day and laying down a strong foundation so your body can actually get better.

My patients that make their health a priority experience a high level of results and return on their investment.

How Do I Book my Appointment?

What Forms Do I Need to Fill Out Before My First Appointment?

There are 2 important forms that need to be filled in online before Dr. Molly can provide you with any medical care:

    1. Potential New Patient Form

    2. Initial Intake Form

You can access your patient forms and instructions here

What Can I Expect at My First Appointment?

Your first appointment is a big one.  We spend 80 minutes together and we are going to cover a lot of ground.  I’ll have already thoroughly reviewed your intake form which means our time together will be very productive and we can really get down to business.

Here’s what we will cover off:

    • An in-depth review of your health history, current concerns and goals
    • Review of recent lab work (if applicable)
    • Recommendation for further blood testing and/or functional medicine tests (if necessary)
    • Presentation of introductory treatment guidelines

What Can I Expect at My Second Appointment?

Your second appointment is 60 minutes.  This is when we review your test findings, develop your treatment plan and set the stage for healing.

Here’s what we will cover off:

    • Review, analysis and interpretation of all functional and/or blood test results
    • Presentation and discussion of your individualized treatment recommendations
    • Presentation of your Care Plan:  Active Care Phase & Maintenance Care Phase

How Long are Follow Up Appointments?

My follow-up appointments are 45 minutes in length.  While you may be used to 15 minute doctor visits, I don’t find they are conducive to building health.   We need time to go through everything thoroughly, so the decisions being made are well informed and in line with your health goals.  We need time so you can be acknowledged and heard, and time for me to give you the care and respect you deserve.

Here is what we cover off in your follow-up appointments:

    • Any questions or concerns you might have
    • Review test results
    • Assess response to treatment and optimize your plan
    • Address any new health concerns that have come up
    • Provide you with ongoing knowledge and support
    • Provide you with referrals and resources

Do I Need To Bring Blood Work or Imaging Results?

Yes.  The more information I have, the more precise I can be with your treatment recommendations.  Here are some guidelines:

Recent Blood work (Within 6 months)
Blood work needs to have been done within the past 6 months so we know your current state of health.  If you have had blood run in the past 6 months please request a copy from your MD and email it to admin@drmollynd.com.  If you are unable to get a copy we can send a Request for Release of Records to your MD and request that they send it to our office.

If you have not had blood work done within the past 6 months we will require you to get this done so a proper analysis of your health can be provided.   In your appt. I will provide you with a list of the blood tests required and you can either choose to have these run by your MD within the OHIP system, or pay for them to be run privately through my clinic.  (outside of the OHIP system).  We use both Dynacare and Life Labs for blood testing.

    Historical Blood Work
If you have any historical blood work from the past 1-2 years please email it to admin@drmollynd.com  so we can include it in your patient portal.

Imaging (X-rays, MRIs, CT Scans, ECG, EKG)
Please bring a copy of the radiologist’s interpretation of findings so I can review them.

How Much Is Treatment and Lab Testing Going to Cost?

    My Fees
You can find a complete list of my fees here.

    Treatment Recommendations & Lab Costs
Once we have had your initial appointment and I understand your health concerns and goals I will be in a position to provide you with a general outline of how often I am going to need to see you.  Specific recommendations for blood tests and/or functional medicine tests are generally made in your first appointment and costs of the tests will be outlined at that time. I cannot provide an estimate for testing prior to seeing you in your initial appointment as a formal patient.

    Blood Tests
For blood testing you have the option of running this through your MD (OHIP) or privately through my clinic (outside of OHIP therefore an out-of-pocket cost). Where possible I always try to bundle blood tests to reduce the cost.  You can learn more about blood testing here.

    Functional Medicine Tests
Functional medicine tests range from $200-$500 per test.  You can find a list of the functional medicine tests I use in my practice here.

How Do I Get The Functional Medicine Testing Done?

Most of the functional medicine testing is done by the collection of:

    • Blood
    • Saliva
    • Urine
    • Stool

You will be provided with either the blood collection requisition + instructions, or a take-home kit to collect your saliva/urine/stool.  Each take-home kit contains everything you will need to complete the test, and a FedEx or Purolator envelope and courier forms.  Instructions for these tests will be provided in your kit and can also be found on our website here.

Which Labs Do You Use for Blood Testing?

We use the following labs for blood testing:

    • Life Labs
    • Dynacare

How Do I Have My Appointment via Video?

Dr. Molly and Katie use Zoom Video Conferencing (professional version) to conduct follow-up video appointments.  This video appointment can be conducted from your phone, tablet/Ipad or computer from the comfort of your home or office.  Zoom Video Conferencing is confidential and HIPAA compliant.

    Instructions:

    • We will send you an email 1-3 days prior to your appointment containing the link to sign into Zoom.   (This link can be used with iOS, Android, PC, Mac, or Linux)
    • Simply click on the link to join the meeting.  Your practitioner will come on at the scheduled appointment time.  If she is a few minutes late, don’t worry…please stay on the video and wait for her to appear.
    • Please ensure you join the meeting a few minutes in advance of your scheduled appointment time so you have everything in working order.
    • You will need to enable both the video and audio so you can be seen and heard during your appointment.

    Do You Prescribe Bio-identical Hormones?

No.  I use a combination of nutritional supplements, lifestyle modifications and botanical (plant-based) medicine to help you re-balance your hormones.

    Do You Provide Direct Billing?

No.  Currently we do not provide direct billing.  At the end of each of your appointments you will be provided an itemized invoice which you can submit to your insurer.
